BEROWRA WATERS is probably the most well known of the boat access settlements along the Hawkesbury River. A narrow winding road descends from both Berowra & Berillee to meet at opposite sides of this Berowra Waters. The ferry that transports both cars & passengers across the 200 metres of waterway is worked on a set of cables that literally pulls the ferry along. Both to the north & the south of the ferry lies a series of houses, some of which are still in original condition, while others have been magnificently renovated.
Many of the residents have owned these properties for decades & love the sheltered 'flord like' atmosphere that Berowra Creek offers. Most residents here suffice with a small 'tinny' as their mode of transport as the storms rarely affect this area.
On the mainland the marina offers services such as fuel, berthing, boat hire, a cafe & the 'Waterview Restaurant'. The Waterview serves a seafood buffet for both lunch & dinner during the weekend.
Just a short boat ride away on via a complimentary transfer vessel lies 'Berowra Waters Restaurant'. Here through the floor to ceiling louvred windows the view is clasically serene....beautiful bushland , rock formations and a series of vessels swinging on their moorings. The menu is a la carte & the restaurant is open Thursday to Sunday lunch, and Friday , Saturday for dinner.
By road Berowra Waters is a great lunch destination, & can be incorporated as part of a day trip taking in the townships Wisemans Ferry, Spencer & Brooklyn.
Alternatively head for Berowra & hire a 'tinny' for the day & expore the wonderful bays & small beaches that lie just a short distance away.
